Book Review :

Book : The Woman In The Window.
My Rating : 4/5
Author : A.J. Finn
Publisher : HarperCollins
Page Count : 448

Blurb : "What did she see?
It’s been ten long months since Anna Fox last left her home. Ten months during which she has haunted the rooms of her old New York house like a ghost, lost in her memories, too terrified to step outside.
Anna’s lifeline to the real world is her window, where she sits day after day, watching her neighbours. When the Russells move in, Anna is instantly drawn to them. A picture-perfect family of three, they are an echo of the life that was once hers.
But one evening, a frenzied scream rips across the silence and Anna witnesses something no one was supposed to see. Now she must do everything she can to uncover the truth about what really happened. But even if she does, will anyone believe her ? And can she even trust herself?"

What I think about this book :

The climax of the book somehow didn't reach up to my expectations. But the reasons behind my 4 star rating is :

1) Character Development
2) Story Formation
3) Setting. The setting played a major role in convincing me to fall for this book.

The character of Anna Fox is quite complicated to deal with. She is Agoraphobic .i.e Fear from places and situations that might cause panic, helplessness or embarrassment. Agoraphobia is a psychological disorder.
The characterisation of a protagonist with a psychological disorder was seamless. The narration is so clear that it was actually reeling in my mind like a movie.
The whole vibe of the book was really frightening yet enticing. It gave me The Girl On The Train vibes. Though both the novels surround around a mysterious plot, and gave similiar vibes, they were poles apart in their own way.

What I am most astonished about is that after finishing the book, while writing this review, I decided to do a little research about the author, when I did I was appalled to know that the book is written by a male author. The reason for this astonishment is that I had this conception that the writer of this book could be a female, because the way Anna's character is described is so vivid and deep, it felt like it has to be a woman.

When the story unveils, to me personally, it was quite unpredictable, but somehow I was expecting more. Still, I would say that I loved this book and I would highly recommend it because it is definitely worth a read.

Thank You.
