A Studio Executive You Can Respect...Granskad i USA den 8 oktober 2013
...despite the fact that he was a producer on "Won Ton Ton, The Dog Who Saved Hollywood" (a film fiasco not mentioned in this book!). It was refreshing to read David Picker's memoirs, simply because he was a movie executive/producer who loved to back innovative and provocative projects, even while balancing them out with the necessary commercial movies in order to maintain his career. Picker's accounts seem truthful, modest and thoughtful as he describes his spectacular run as a creative exec over several decades in Hollywood. The writing is pretty good, but I would quibble with the organization, which busts up the timeline halfway through in order to focus on specific features and personalities; this needlessly complicates what should be a fairly straightforward read. Picker, however, stays focused on his movie career, with little about his personal life except when relevant, and that was fine by me. He also settles some scores and honors artists he respects and that was also fine by me. Quick, easy and enjoyable read. We could use this guy in the movie business today.

Delicious stories from HollywoodGranskad i USA den 17 november 2013
Finally, a book from the Inside Man! A lifetime of experiences and stories wrapped neatly into a book is a dream come true for anyone who was ever curious about Hollywood. David Picker's legacy as a studio executive extraordinaire was long ago solidified, but this book ends all discussion. Readers will be fascinated to learn what really happens behind the red curtain. A true page turner that is impossible to put down because each story leaves the reader eagerly anticipating the next, and just when you think you have heard it all, the next page comes, and you are proven wrong.
