It's an appalling book, full of 'stock' characters that have escaped from a third rate sitcom, with a 'hero' so pathetically weak and the most unbelievable cliche 'baddies' .
At least the cat survived this drivel.
There is not one believable character in this book. Spend your hard earned money on Ian Rankin instead, that's an author who knows how to create a story.
That said, this book was quite a slog!
It seems padded out and lacking action, but the main issue for me was the fact that key parts of the plot just don't seem feasible. A main character who goes over half the book without realising what everyone else has long since realised, a super intelligent eight -year-old who accuses her favourite teacher just because she received a blatant fake call out of the blue from a total stranger, murders with, spuriously, no real investigation from the police. Even the twist at the end doesn't really fit, because if so she would have acted differently earlier.
It says on the book that this author has sold 2 million copies. I'm surprised that that.
The author clearly doesn't need additional custom, which is just as well as personally I won't be buying any more anyway.
