After reading a man called Ove, i was looking forward to reading more of the author, but after forcing myself to complete reading this one, i never want to see another book by him again.
I get that the place is run down and little happens, but every single character in this tale should have been killed off, just before the author cuts his hands off, so as never to put anyone through such an ordeal again.
O would rather count how many grains of rice are in a sack of it than ever go through the near coma these tedious and unlikeable characters are.
Ove was ten out of ten, this is one out of a thousand.
I would have given it to a charity shop, but decided to rip it up and bin it in order to save anyone from having to go through the tedium of this book.
Not usually so negative, but he has made me hate reading again, so hence one star. He deserves zero but that isn't an option.
At times this book made me wish i was blind or dyslexic.

I bought the novel with a little trepidation as I really enjoyed 'My Grandmother sends her regards and apologises' and didn't care much for Britt-Marie in that book. However the novel is amazing at not sacrificing her character traits but instead examining their place and impact on her life and the choices that she has made. I especially loved the ending and thought it was perfect for the journey that occurs through the book.,

An interesting and sympathetic look at a cleaning-obsessed former housewife striking out on her ownGranskad i Storbritannien den 28 augusti 2018
I first read My Grandmother sends her regards and mostly liked it but skipped over the fantasy bits. That’s the book where we’re introduced to Britt-Marie as the annoying, nagging neighbour. In Britt-Marie was here we learn about Britt-Marie, her fears, her skills and more about her peculiarities. I found the book fascinating and was so hoping that, in fairy tale style, everyone would have a happy ending. Sadly they don’t. There’s quite a bit about football and I’m as uninterested in football as Britt-Marie but those parts were handled well enough that I didn’t need to skip over them. This is probably the best book I’ve read this year.

Very good follow upGranskad i Storbritannien den 27 september 2019
You get the first chapter at the end of the previous book (My Grandmother sends her regards and apologies), so it draws you in very easily. The story does take a while to get to the point where you don't want to put it down, but it does about a third of the way in. It is slightly romanticised in places, but then what's wrong with that? Very enjoyable and takes OCD's to a newer, more understandable and compassionate level.

DelightfulGranskad i Storbritannien den 12 juni 2016
Naturally most people compare this book to Backman's first book, 'A man called Ove' . Ove is one of my all time favourite books, and Britt Marie, although not quite as brilliant, comes very close. The characters are all feel real and alive, you do care about what happens to them, and they are all likeable, even horrible Kent to some extent by the end. Ove made me lough out loud one minute and sob the next, Britt Marie made me smile most of the time and occasionally tearful. This is a very thoughtful book with some very wise lines in it, but it is also quite humorous and gentle, very well written, with some unexpected twists and turns. It is a truly delightful read, would highly recommend.
