Wireless charging is something I am new to, in fact I had no idea my iPhone was wireless charging compatible until very recently. Charging without wires, great!
After scouring reviews on Amazon and tech websites, I narrowed it down to this Anker dual-pack and a few others. What swung it for me was my previous experience of Anker's reliability and customer service (I knew if something didn't work as should, or if there was a defect within the product I would be able to return or refund with minimum hassle).
What do you get in the little box; the round charging pad, the upright charging stand, two USB cables (these are both around 84cm/33in) to power the units and some bits of documentation should you need it.
The stand is a lightweight plastic unit, but has a solid rubber pad on the bottom of it to stop it slipping about. I have a Rhinoshield bumper case with no backing plate for my iPhone XR, and it charges just fine in either landscape or portrait. There is a little circular blue LED light at the lower front of the unit, which comes on when you place your phone on the stand. One of my original concerns about the LED light was regarding how bright it was, as I wanted these in the bedroom for charging the phone overnight. Some other units seem to have really bright green charging LEDs but this one is pretty low-key; low enough not to provide a distraction in going to sleep at night but bright enough to indicate that the device is charging. Also, it does not blink or pulse when charging.
The circular pad is a tidy little thing, with a nice rubber coating on top AND bottom to prevent any 'slippage'! It will charge my iPhone or wireless AirPods just fine. The AirPods case is quite small, so does need to be placed dead-centre of the pad, if it is to the side then it will not charge. However the small blue charging LED on the side of the pad shows the unit is charging.
The stand and pad both requires a faster charging plug in order to take advantage of Fast Charging for Samsung (10W) or newer iPhones (7.5W), so if you want to enable this be sure you have a suitable wall-adapter or purchase one in addition to this pack. It would be nice to have this as an added option perhaps when purchasing as most chargers (especially Apple ones!) only cater for one-USB cable and are of mediocre-power output.
If there were any room for improvement, I would say that it would be nice if there were a USB-socket on the actual stand itself, should you wish to piggy-back another device off of that, or indeed piggy-back one charging unit from another. Small wishes however that we may see in a future incarnation.
All-in-all, for the price, I can't see many better options out there for most users.
